Jargon Busting

As in every industry, the number of financial planners claiming to be experts are endless.

But in reality, very few will give clear, personalised expert advice to those who are not planning investing with gold bars and computer code and mid-Atlantic hotel rooms. And that’s where we come in. We can provide expert personalised financial planning for you without it costing the earth. Sounds good? Well wait, there’s more...and it’s quite simple...Jargon Busting.

We’ve spent countless hours scouring the internet looking at sites and forums with titles like “the questions you should be asking your financial planner” and “100 tips for investing well” in order to understand investors. We’ve also spent the last 30 years on calls with pension providers, investment specialists and many others in the financial services industry. And what do all of these things have in common? Jargon.

In the financial services industry we are bombarded with specialist terminology and confusing explanations, usually completely unnecessarily. Why say something in twenty words that you could say in five? A core principle of Chancery Lane is we deal with this jargon so you don’t have to. The questions we ask are simple and clear, as are our answers. We believe it’s essential that investors fully understand the what, how and why of their investment strategy but also realise that the majority are not experts in the field. So let us deal with the jargon, the ‘boring bits’ and the thousands of pages of appendices so you can get on with what’s important in life right now, whilst we ensure your financial future matches your ambitions. In the 70’s space race, NASA is said to have spent several $ million producing a zero gravity writing tool – the Russians turned up with a pencil. In investing, we follow the Russian’s philosophy, if there’s a simple solution that’s what we’ll use.

A good example: most investment firms will tell you their ‘investment philosophy’.

We think it’s clearer to simply tell you how we’ll make your money make money for you.
